Think you have what it takes to face one of Britain’s most challenging quiz shows? BBC’s Mastermind is currently accepting applications from UK contestants for its 2026/2027 series.
The iconic television quiz is looking for knowledgeable contestants ready to test both their specialist subject expertise and their general knowledge in the famous Mastermind chair.
Whether you’re the person everyone turns to during a pub quiz or you have an impressive depth of knowledge about a particular topic, this could be your opportunity to put those skills to the test on national television.
About Mastermind
Produced by Hat Trick/Hindsight Productions for the BBC, Mastermind has become one of the UK’s most recognizable quiz formats.
Contestants face questions in two major areas: a chosen specialist subject and general knowledge. The competition is known for its demanding questions, distinctive black chair, and intense atmosphere.
The show is currently searching for a diverse range of contestants from across the UK who believe they can handle the challenge.
Who Should Apply?
You may want to submit an application if you:
🧠 Have an impressive knowledge of a particular specialist subject
❓ Enjoy testing your general knowledge
🇬🇧 Are based in the UK
📺 Would love the opportunity to appear on a BBC quiz show
🏆 Are ready to challenge yourself against other knowledgeable contestants
You don’t necessarily need to be a professional quizzer. Applicants with an interesting specialist subject, strong general knowledge, and enthusiasm for competing are encouraged to consider applying.
Could You Handle the Mastermind Chair?
The Mastermind experience puts contestants under pressure as they answer questions against the clock. While many people may enter the competition, ultimately only one contestant can become the series champion.
If you regularly dominate trivia nights, know an unusual subject inside and out, or simply want to discover how your knowledge measures up, this could be your chance.
